The Modular Mobility Assistance System (MMAS) is an evolution of the traditional walker or cane, designed to be fully adaptable to the user’s progression and changing needs. At its core, it is a lightweight, robust support structure that houses a series of interchangeable modules. The main module includes pressure and gyroscopic sensors that detect irregular gait patterns, sudden weight shifts, or dangerous tilting of the device, emitting a gentle vibration or a voice alert to correct posture before a fall occurs. One of the most innovative modules is the «Dynamic Route Guide»: a small laser projector that maps the floor in front of the user and projects visual guide lines (like a grid) to maintain constant direction and pace, avoiding obstacles detected by a proximity sensor. It also integrates a low-consumption GPS Emergency Communication module. The MMAS connects to a caregiver’s mobile application which offers analysis of mobility data over time, allowing for personalized sensitivity adjustments and providing valuable insights into the user’s health and rehabilitation progress. This makes it a device that grows with the user, from initial rehabilitation to assisted daily mobility.
